Every credit carries a geographic limit, and the rules differ by credit type. Nutrient credits are tied to the watershed your project drains to, with tighter limits where local waters are already impaired. Stream and wetland credits follow a service area defined when the bank is approved, which in some cases extends beyond the immediate watershed.
